_{[When JW wasn't snoozing in Jack's super cool mansion, he was seeing the sights. He's never been in a big city like this before and it's pretty easy to get turned around. Blocks and blocks of walking make a man tired and hungry, so when he shoulders open the Game Corner doors to escape the wind, he spots a candy machine. A single candy bar is left in one of the spiral rings.]

[Hot Stuff pokes her head out of JW's jacket and looks around, waving her little mandibles. She nearly gets whiplash when her trainer makes a B-line for the machine.]

[Hoo boy he sure did get lucky! It sure would be awful if somebody else had arrived at the machine at the same time!]}

[oh my god and they arrived at the vending machine at the same time]

[In one of those ironic fits of fate, both Chip's and JW's hands hit the number pad at the same time without either of them realizing the other is there until the last minute. Chip jumps slightly in surprise, not expecting someone else, and is almost about to apologize before they turn and actually see who it is.]

_{[Naturally, JW with his tunnel-vision and unusual height don't notice the bundle of fury directly below him. That is, until they both hit the number 4.]}

Wh--euah!

_{[He springs back, arms flared out to the sides. They had surprised him--but once he realizes who it is, he quickly straightens up and smooths out his jacket. Their last meeting was less than stellar.]}

I beg to differ.

Well you can be dumb, it's mine!

[And just immediately going to shove their money in--]

What--!

_{[It came out as a squawk. JW lurches forward, forming a human arch over top of Chip, and claps both hands over the coin slot.]}

Get lost! I need this!

[There's a message on Chip's Gear...a video, this time! Legosi seems to have branched out of text only since the last time they spoke.]

Chip? Are you busy? I want to show you something if you have time.

[Well, Legosi won't be waiting for an answer for long, considering Chip pretty much pounces their Gear to answer him.]

No, I'm here! What is it?

[His eyes crease a little with the hint of a smile when Chip answers his call, giving him only a moment to find someplace to prop up his Gear. It's pretty necessary, seeing as how the very instant his hands are free there's a head bobbing into view from just below, one with a pink nose that's aggressively sniffing into the Gear's microphone.]

Jack, hold on-

[Legosi gently hefts the Pokemon in his lap up a little so he can view the camera more easily: a Rockruff that barks happily with his fluffy tail wagging so hard it's mostly just a blur.]

Look what I found.

[THAT'S A BABY!!!]

He's so cute! Your pack is growing!!

[It's not just the delight of a cute animal that lights up their face, honestly--Legosi seems like he's much more wolf than a werewolf would be. And Grant had seemed pretty lonely when he first took Chip in...all Paliens are great friends, but they remember the face he'd made when they first let out their dogs to meet him.]

Do you know what you're gonna evolve him into yet?

I haven't decided. I actually don't know the evolution process for Rockruff, now that I think about it...

[He knows that they can evolve into multiple things, but exactly how he needs to ensure it's one or the other isn't something he's had the opportunity to research yet. He doubts it will be much of a rush, seeing as how Jack is very puppy still at the moment.]

How did you choose for yours?

I didn't really choose it? I think it's about the time of day when they evolve. Precious did it when I was training with Felix kinda late, and Joey was...um, I'm not sure if it counted as day or night? It was sunset, though!

[They have 100% forgotten that Joseph told them about the hidden ability thing when handing over the egg.]

Hm...so it is one of those things that just happens.

[You can't really make your Pokemon evolve at a specific time, he's found. It just occurs when they're high enough level, or ready in some other way.]

Maybe then I will let the decision be up to Jack. Though, I'm not sure Jack could make himself evolve either...

Yeah, sometimes they just gotta choose! Like how Gremlin doesn't wanna get big ever, so Dimitri got him a Statistone!

[Everstone, Chip]

[Legosi is going to look for this and never find it...]

That keeps them from evolving?

Chip? It's Legosi. I haven't heard from you in a while.

I just wanted to check in to see how you were doing.

But it isn't your fault. I know it can be hard to know what to do at a time like this.

[They...don't really know what to say to the rest of it. Legosi is kind (all wolves are kind), but they don't...they just know that people shouldn't have to worry about them.]

That's right. Have you heard of the Legendary Seekers?

i was a leader for a riddle!!

Oh were you? That's great. They had me be a leader too...but I am sure you were a lot better at leading than I was.

The riddles came together and uncovered a temple in the sea. They have been putting us into groups to go in and search the temple...and I was in a group that went through one of the first floors. We found an old bathhouse. There were a lot of Pokemon still living there...and I found some old bath-oil bottles shaped like flowers that I kept.

A lot of folks have been finding little treasures every time they go inside.

Don't worry, it hasn't been all that long yet. In fact, the Seekers are still asking for people to go back in to search more. Not all of the floors have been fully explored yet, because not everyone can make it to the deeper levels.

That is.../if/ you are interested, of course?

[Their first instinct is to say yes, of course they want to go! But then they think about Grant, and Felix, and Dimitri and Claude and everyone else, and...they don't know if they should want to.]

I figured as much. You can tell him that Legosi would be there to chaperone you, should you decide to go.

[And having met Grant a time or two now, he hopes that he would trust Legosi's judgement in bringing Chip to a previously undiscovered Temple. Like on one hand yes, it's probably not the SAFEST place to go, but on the other...Legosi is fairly certain Chip's Pokemon are actually by and large way stronger than his own, so. It evens out.]

[With the caveat that Chip call him every night to check up on them and Legosi both, of course, but they don't really mind that.]

[If Legosi had his tail right now, it would be wagging.]

Then I hope you're ready to go on an adventure, Chip. It'll be fun.
